Several new businesses have opened or are in the works in Logan and North Logan.
Uptown Cheapskate held its grand opening Saturday, Feb. 22. Located at 70 E 400 N Ste 130, the second-hand clothing and accessory store is now open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Owner Amy Lofgreen said the grand opening went “shockingly well.” She had worried the snowstorm Saturday would dissuade people from coming.
“We had a line of people that went past the FedEx building,” Lofgreen said. “They didn’t care that it was freezing, they weren’t even wearing coats. They were just in line, ready to have a good time.”
She said the grand opening ranked high among other Uptown Cheapskate openings, based on the number of items sold and number of people.
Virginia’s Argentina Cafe and Bakery is preparing to open in the space previously occupied by Crumb Brothers at 535 E 1400 N Ste 140 in Logan, next to Lee’s Marketplace.
The owner, Virginia Evans, and her husband Michael said they plan to open the cafe Mar. 14. Virginia is from Mendoza, Argentina.
The cafe and bakery will offer Argentine food with an American twist, including empanadas, milanesa and a variety of desserts.
“It’s the best Argentina food in Cache Valley,” Virginia said.
A new Vietnamese restaurant, Pho King, is replacing the Sonic at 2355 N Main Street in North Logan.
According to the Cache County parcel viewer, the property is now owned by Pho King Everywhere, LLC.
A document on the door of the building shows the company received a building permit from North Logan City to begin work on renovating the building. Signage is up on the building and along Main Street.
Americanized French Bakery Le Croissant announced on social media Feb. 16 it will be opening a new branch this fall — Fairway Bagels and Donuts.
The new location will fill the space on the corner of 400 W 400 S next to the Cache County Fairgrounds. The shop will sell bagel sandwiches made with Le Croissant’s homemade pastrami, bacon and smoked salmon, as well as donuts.
According to the post, the new business gets its name from the Fairway Market, which occupied the building in the 1950s, selling penny candies and mercantile goods.
