At 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, a call was made to the Logan Fire Department regarding a fire in progress.
The building on fire was a house at approximately 151 S. 700 West, Logan, and the call was made by employees at a nearby business. According to police scanner traffic, an ambulance that was responding to the scene was then involved in a traffic accident, leading to at least one EMT being injured.
Logan Fire Department Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys gave a statement to The Herald Journal regarding the details of the fire at the house.
“On the fire department’s arrival, we had flames showing from two windows in one corner of the structure,” Humphreys said. “It was reported to us that all the occupants were out. The fire department was able to make an interior attack and extinguish the fire.
The fire was extinguished, everyone was verified that they were out and they were safe, and right now we’re just transitioning from our extinguishment phase into our investigation phase.”
According to police scanner traffic, a responding ambulance was involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of 600 East and 400 North in Logan. The initial scanner call reported that three employees were in the ambulance, with at least one sustaining a serious leg injury.
Photos and statements given to The Herald Journal from on-scene first responders indicated that the ambulance collided with a Jeep Cherokee before swerving into a traffic pole on the south side of 400 North.
UHP was on the scene and conducting the investigation into the ambulance crash. Witnesses told the HJ that drones were used to look at the scene.
Additional information and updates will be provided as the story develops.
