During the recent Corinne City Council meeting, the representative for Onion 52 requested annexation to Corinne City. The company is planning on construction of an addition to the existing building and becoming part of Corinne City, an advantage to their plan.
Council members requested information on how much water the building would require. Answer: “not much,” just for restrooms as water is not needed for the work to be done in the building. The council voted to approve annexation.
Vandalism is rearing its ugly head again in Flack Park, particularly in the bowery. The ceiling and restrooms seem to be a point of intense interest to those with little to do with their time. Council members remarked, “It’s a shame because that is such a nice park.” If you see something, say something so this activity can be stopped.
Bids were opened and one approved for the repair of roads in the city. Councilman Greg Harris will get the city on the contractors’ list for repairs this spring. Bids were also discussed for the upgrade of security around the City Office building.
Plans for the re-opening of the historic Train Depot in Brigham City are under way under the direction of the Golden Spike Association of Box Elder County. Vice President Kurtis Edelman is happily engaged in planning interesting activities for the well-preserved building. The new overpass will overshadow the museum making it imperative that it not be forgotten, he said.
Edelman’s plans include using themes during the year that will highlight Box Elder County history, such as the mining adventure in near Perry, the Golden Spike monument in Promontory, Peach Days involvement, Corinne City link to the Spike and train history. History and education is our goal, he said.
The association supports the Golden Spike National Historical Park, the transcontinental railroad, Box Elder County train history, the Golden Spike Heritage Foundation, Historic Brigham City Train Depot, and the Corinne Historic Train Depot.
Can you believe it is time for the school year to wind down? Wish the weather would wind down also. Probably jump from “where is that coat” to “when can we turn on the air conditioner?” overnight.
