Cache Valley Cruise-In is happening this week, with events on July 4, 5 and 6. The annual event features a car show of hot rods and specialty vehicles, a cruise from Logan to Bear Lake and more.
Cache Valley Cruise-In is an annual event that began in 1982, and is put on by the Cache Valley Cruising Association. The car show brings in more than 30,000 spectators. Tickets for Cache Valley Cruise-In are $10 per adult, which grants admission to all three days. Children under 18 are free.
Larin Lind, a board of directors member for the Cache Valley Cruising Association, said that there are currently 565 cars preregistered for the show. With the registration at the event, he expects there to be close to 1,000 cars at the show.
“We should have another 450 to 500 cars registered Thursday, Friday or Saturday. We’ll have easily 900 cars there this year and probably approaching 1,000,” Lind said.
Along with admission to the show, each ticket also includes a chance to win a classic car.
“That $10 admission ticket also includes a tear off stub that you can put in for a door prize drawing, which this year is a 1950 Ford pickup,” Lind said. “Every year we give a car away.”
The car show will happen every day at the Cache County Fairgrounds at 430 South 500 West in Logan. Some of the other big events include a drive for the registered cars through Logan canyon to Bear Lake on Friday, a concert Friday night, the Top Rod of Utah contest and a cruising parade down Main Street to finish it out on Saturday.
“It’s a way to continue a little bit of the nostalgia for what America was built on; cars,” Lind said.
The Top Rod of Utah car show will take place in the indoor arena at the fairgrounds. Top Rod of Utah is an invitation only car show that will show off high-end car builds and unique cars from the top builders around the Intermountain West.
“They are high-end builds that you would see at national events,” Lind said. “The cars easily are over $300,000 per car. It’s a chance to see some pretty much once in a lifetime high-end cars.”
The cruise to Bear Lake will see the classic cars in the show leave the fairgrounds at 10 a.m. Friday and take a scenic drive as a group through Logan Canyon to Bear Lake and back.
The concert is the only event that will require an individual ticket. The concert starts on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and features the bands Commodores and The Temptations Review. Tickets for the concert need to be purchased online on the Cache Valley Cruise-In website.
The event will wrap up with a parade of the cars down Logan Main Street from Center Street to 1400 North. The parade is on Saturday from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Logan City is also hosting a free concert at the Carol and Jim Laub Plaza on Saturday during the parade. The concert is at the same time as the parade and features The Lonely Hearts Club Band.
