The second annual Interfaith Easter Celebration was held April 11, at the Preston High School auditorium.
The non-denominational concert was organized to welcome people of all faiths to worship Jesus Christ during the Easter season, said Connie Jensen, music director of two of the choirs to perform. She is the activities committee of the Franklin Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A Primary Ensemble under the direction of Jensen opened the concert singing “Gethsemane”, followed by The New Hope Mennonite Church Singers sang “He Rose Triumphantly”, “Joy Dawned Again on Easter Day” and “Living Hope”.
The Westminster Bell Choir performed “Ride On, Ride on in Majesty” after which a youth choir directed by Jennifer Hobbs sang “Look Unto Christ” and the Bell Choir returned with “O Deep, Deep Love of Jesus”.
The Sisters in Christ performed three numbers, a version of “Amazing Grace”, “Broken Vessels” and “The Goodness of God”.
An adult choir closed the concert with “Gathered in the Upper Room” and “Crown Him!”.
The event was well attended and enjoyed by all. One patron commented that “This is the best idea Preston ever had,” while many others complimented the beautiful music and the Easter message.
