Kumrovec
A unique open-air museum, living museum
in heart of the village, has preserved Zagorje's tradition
of the rural place from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Old houses are hiding interesting stagings of the rural culture
of living, and the representation of traditional crafts. Museum
workshops, presentations of old crafts and various events
are the point of great interest to the visitors. Kumrovec
is also a birth place of Josip B. Tito. Near Kumrovec, in
a beautiful landscape of Zelenjak, there is the monument in
honour of the Croatian national anthem sang in an idyllic
greenery of the surrounding.

Krapina
The finding of the Palaeolithic early
man placed Krapina among the most important finding places
in this part of Europe. The museum of Krapina's early man
introduces visitors in this interesting and hardly known world
of our old ancestors. Krapina keeps its rich history also
in some other cultural sights - burg above the town, sacral
monuments like the Franciscan monastery and a fairgoer's baroque
complex the Holy Virgin of Jerusalem at Trski Vrh and Ljudevit
Gaj's Home-museum.

Marija Bistrica
The national shrine of the Holy Virgin
Bistricka with a miraculous votive statue of black Mother
of God is regularly visited by many pilgrims from Croatia
and from all over the world. The shrine complex with slab
zinc and the historical church is the work of a prominent
architect Herman Bolle from 1882. Marija Bistrica is also
the centre of traditional crafts, especially mead makers who
sell gingerbread, honey cookies, candles and mead at their
stalls. Traditional children's toys from Laz and potter's
products are one other part of a rich offer at Bistrica's
parish fairs.

Gornja Stubica
The Stubicka valley is a memorial place
of the legendary Peasants' Revolt in 1573. The statue of the
leader of the Revolt, Matija Gubec is overlooking the battle-
field of bloody battle from the grandiose monument. The statue
is the work of art of the sculptor Antun Augustincic, who
through the relief and bronze releases the voice of the bloody
chronicle. In the castle of the Orsic counts, a baroque site
built at the place where an early middle- age burg used to
stand, there is the Museum of peasants' revolts. By its exhibition
it brings us back to the feudal society and battles for old
rights. Beside the church of St. Jurij there is the Gupceva
lime-tree, a 400year-old protected monument of nature.
